Returns?

Strange day for a couple of reasons, I again decided to bet in running, dont know why I do this when it is all going to plan but I still do it, I think it is the lure of a quick return but it always has the opposite effect. The horse dropped anchor and £10.71 went with it.
Why,Why,Why?????????
I traded as usual and ended up in profit by the tune of £4.72 this should have been £15.43 but for that gamble, but it is time to learn from these mistakes. I read other peoples blogs so I know I am not the only one with this problem but thats no reassurance!
What I did notice that my returns per race are getting higher, this is still with £10 trades. Either my timing / reading the market is getting better or its luck. Probably the latter!!

P&L today £4.72

P&L month -£10.74

Normal service :((

Gone daft again placed a silly trade on a AP mc Coy horse that fell away very quickly, I then had a out of body experience that for some reason I thought putting £20 trades in, was a good idea and got stuffed in the next race!! That was £30 down in the first 2 races. I went back to normal with £10 and ended up £20.70 down.
So a mixed day really, pleased with turning the £10 into £19.30 but thats no good coming from £30 down. Self control is what I need to master.

P&L Today = -£20.70

P&L Month = - £15.46

New Month New Start!

Thank god May is finished!! Just seemed to go from bad to worse. I put this down to no real system even though I thought I was following one. In fact it wasnt until the last 4 days did I see progress, I went back to basics with only a £10 bank and I kept to very tight ground rules which basically mean I always trade both ways back then lay or in some extreme cases visa versa.
Following this I was averaging £5 which is pin money but a 50% return on my bank. I will continue this for most of June to see if it works out and then I will increase the bank as liquidity with larger amounts is no issue.
Just to clarify I will back any profit from the day and start again with £10 the following day.

Bank £10

Day P&L £5.24

P&L June £5.24

Right Track?

Been quite a time since the last post, I have yet again tweeked my strategy. I have found that for me, trading is the way to go and that means trading out before in play or the end of the race. I have been caught out to many times now in the last few yards that to keep a trade to the end is pointless even though I feel I am giving money away it does mean that I dont lose (hopefully).
I have included a screen shot, this to me shows how far I have come, it is small fry to a lot of people but for me it feels like real progress.

In my last post i said that I felt my system for National hunt was working. Well today was one of the best i have had, not great returns but very encouraging. I don't get stressed or nervous with it or do I feel over confident after a few wins. This really seems to work for me quite well for me. I just need to get into the similar routine for flat racing fingers crossed I can do it.

Penny dropped???

Not posted for a while, mainly due to trying out the system that I use for national hunt.
I must say, it works OK for me, not great returns but I am using a modest bank. Unfortunately
the season ends this week but hey, I can store it till it kicks in again.
Trading on flat races is also not to bad but again only small returns. screen below shows return from tonight's racing

End of March

Not a good month. From reading a few blogs it appears I am not on my own, it would have been worse than a £6.85 loss if it was not for Big Bucks (what a horse, gold cup next year. Watch and see)
I believe I have finally got a system that seems to work for me on national hunt races, limiting I know with the flat season upon us, but I find I can trade better on flat races. For some reason I can read the market a lot easier where I have been struggling with national hunt all month bar the last week.
Hopefully april will be the turning point. Fingers crossed

Learning the lessons

Again, I find trading profitable but my own greed and lack of self control mean I do stupid bets like laying horses in play etc this results in losses that need not happen.
I also tried tennis for the first time. Not good, lost money again to silly errors but I know more now and I can see why people like trading on it.
Have included screen shot of today, small returns but kept my control and just traded so quite pleased.

In running

Why do I bet in running?????? as soon as I lay the horse, it seems to get an outboard motor from somewhere and zooms up to win. This has happened twice now at wolv and I need to learn the lesson!!!
When I trade I find that it works, yes it seems little return each time but I find that I am now doing 3 to 4 trades per race and able to look at the market and can get in out at the correct times, I just need to be more confident and do this rather than GAMBLE for larger returns. IDIOT!!!!!

Saturday 6 March 2010

Not a good week £40 down mainly due to one bet of £50 not being taken due to my greed on price, I then felt it would return in running, but it didn't. It would be nice if the toy had a stop / loss system, but would I have the discipline to use it?
Anyway, plenty more days in March to recover.

27 Feb

Not a bad day. Trading using the "the toy" which I have been using for a week now and i am slowly getting familiar with it. I used to use Bet Angel Pro which I also found I needed a couple of weeks to get the hang of it.
I need to build up confidence that the buttons I press will do what I want when I want and I must say I do like the toy, for a free piece of software it is fantastic. I will go into more detail how I trade with it in the coming days but I am very impressed with the speed and ease of use. You need to be sure when trading that the software is up to scratch and this so far fits my needs.
I started out on the 21/01/10 with a £50 bank, this enabled me to learn with trades and not to lose a lot of money if I stuffed up! I did make mistakes, wrong point of entry into a market (still do it) but I have learnt a fairly successful system & my bank has grown to £135 (as of 27/02/10) Very small change to some people I know but I am happy with it so far.

Feb 27th 2010

I have been experimenting with sports betting trading software since the end of Jan. Before this I was laying horses, which for 90% of the time was Ok. However, as everyone knows you only have to have one come in to blow your bank.
This happened on more than one occasion and thats why I know use trading software. I have found that through the course of the last month this has more than doubled my initial stake, which was only modest due to the fact you have to learn the software.
Throughout each day I will post my results and show my betfair P&L for that days trading, any feedback on your thoughts will be most welcome.
